George & Kim Suyama, Ric & Paula Peterson and Jay & Bernadette Deguchi attended the AIA 2013 Honors Dinner on June 1, 2013. Ric Peterson FAIA was honored as a newly elected member of the 2013 College of Fellows and spoke briefly about his work. It was a wonderful, festive evening!

Peter Miller Books moving to SPD building

We are pleased to announce that Peter Miller Books will relocate into the Suyama Peterson Deguchi studio starting on April 21. The Seattle design bookshop is moving after 25 years in the landmark Terminal Sales building near Pike Place Market. Peter plans to reopen in the storefront space, located at 2326 Second Avenue, on May 1 or sooner.

Collision Theory at SPD

SPD is thrilled to host Viewfinder next week, March 28 - 30. This performance is part of Collision Theory, an immersive artistic journey created and curated by KT Niehoff. Viewfinder is an on-going performance installation where the audience can drop by and depart as they wish. KT Niehoff and her dancers are collaborating with photographer Hayley Young to create an environment of on-going sound and movement surrounded by cameras, where the audience can stand behind the lens and capture images of their choosing. Viewfinder is made possible by the generous support of Suyama Peterson Deguchi.

George Suyama and Coast Modern Film

Tonight the Sun Valley Center for the Arts is screening Coast Modern with a post-film discussion with George Suyama. Coast Modern showcases the pioneers of West Coast Modernist architecture and the homes that have become their legacies. The film includes great footage of George in his home, otherwise known as the Fauntleroy Residence (Seattle).

Interviewed in Coast Modern are some of the most respected names in architecture, including James Steele, Barbara Lamprecht, Ray Kappe, Hernik Bull, Pierluigi Serraino, Michael Folonis, Dion Neutra, Douglas Coupland, John Cava, Barbara Bestor and legendary photographer Julius Shulman.

Ric Peterson elected to  AIA College of Fellows

Suyama Peterson Deguchi is pleased to announce that Ric Peterson, Partner, has been elected to The College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The AIA College of Fellows is composed of members of the Institute who are elected to Fellowship by a jury of their peers. Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member.
