In the November issue of Seattle magazine, George Suyama is featured in "Seattle's Hall of Fame" Architecture category as a "pioneering architect: He’s mix-mastered his Japanese cultural heritage with the natural sensibilities of the Pacific Northwest to design distinctive homes, many of which have won American Institute of Architects awards" - and in good company with Jim Olson and Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig + Dave Miller of The Miller Hull Partnership whom are also featured. The Junsei House featured in Kinfolk

The Junsei House featured in Kinfolk

Featured by Kinfolk with Sonos, a home tour of The Junsei House with George Suyama. "The architect retreats to the home’s tree-shrouded living room to thumb through magazines, dissect a design idea, or get lost in a classical melody. The space wasn’t designed with acoustics in mind, but Suyama says sound is so flawlessly balanced that it’s an architectural element. “Music sets the mood and becomes the heart of whatever I’m doing. It offers a fallback so everything’s not so empty.”' Photos by Charlie Schuck, styling by Natasha Felker, and words by MacKenzie Lewis Kassab.

Featured among other local design rebels, check out The Junsei House in the current issue of GRAY. Entitled “Good Neighbors,” the story is written by Jaime Gillin with photography by Alex Hayden (pages 85 - 91).

“In your early days as a designer, you get fussed up and think you need everything a certain way. Once you’ve designed many houses, you realize you need some things and don’t need others. I couldn’t have done this house earlier in my career. I wound’t have had the wisdom.” – George Suyama
