Founded in 1998, Suyama Space is a Seattle-based nonprofit gallery for site-specific installation work. We host three installations per year, requiring artists to respond directly to the building’s distinctive architecture. Exhibitions are organized by director George Suyama and curator Beth Sellars to showcase a full spectrum of established artists of regional, national and international stature. Acting as a catalyst for innovative, experimental ideas and specifically sited projects, Suyama Space presents artist talks and related public programs intended to encourage public discourse about the role of the built environment and its impact upon the artistic process. Our goal is to collaborate with the art community to expand general public interest and understanding of contemporary art.
The gallery is located in Belltown, within the architecture firm of Suyama Peterson Deguchi. We are happy to schedule group and student tours upon request, please call 206.256.0809 to inquire.
