RAUMGREIFEND
Andreas Bee
18 May – 14 August 2009
Andreas Bee lives in and teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, Germany. The title Bee has chosen, RAUMGREIFEND means “far-reaching, extensive,” however he considers his installation to be more of an interaction between a person and space. RAUM means “space”; GREIFEN means “to grasp, to take hold of.” Thus, Bee’s wood and paper construction establishes a fragile, transparent floating “interruption,” physically impacting the gallery visitors’ presence as well as their means of access to the space.
RAUMGREIFEND is made possible through funding from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, 4Culture Arts Sustained Support, Mayor’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs Civic Partnership, and Suyama Space Friends and was curated by Beth Sellars in partnership with Space.City. Galerie Peter Tedden provided support for the accompanying publication.
