METAPHORM
Carolyn Healy + John Phillips

9 June – 22 August 2008

Carolyn Healy and John Phillips, collaborative artists based in Philadelphia, work with light and complex “drawings” made of interlocking rods, cables, ropes, pulleys, minimal sound and video. Here, their orchestrated installation cuts across the upper gallery at angles traveling over and transforming the assemblage of wire works and found objects, and ultimately the actual framework of the architecture. Constructivist geometry of both the sculptural elements and the movement of projected light shapes will create a sense of visual acrobatics.

METAPHORM is made possible through funding from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, 4 Culture Arts Sustained Support, the Suyama Space “Gallery Friends,” and was curated by Beth Sellars in partnership with Space.City. Artist support is provided by the University of the Arts, Philadephia.
